Definition of condition:
no. 1 Fully, accurately, proffessionally restored, trailered, non-driven show car. An extremely low mileage ( under 5000 ) original car with clean original paint, upholstery, ect, and of course completely free of any appreciable deterioration could also fall into this rating.
no. 2 Proffesional body & paint in correct colours, rebuilt & detailed engine compartment, all rubbers and related trim are new, rebuilt chassis with some detailing, interior re-upholstered as required, trunk/cargo area prepared and detailed. Intended for occasional dry pavement use only. This is often where the low mileage ( 5000-20000 ) original "one owner" cars fall into.
no. 3 Very clean, presentable "driver". May have recent good body and paint, rebuilt engine, and useable upholstery. Well kept original. No mechanical issues.
no. 4 The typical old original car that you may see driving around. Generally well kept, but obviously requiring restoration work. Minor rust will be evident, but no structural issues. Will usually have well maintained driveline and mechanical. When searching for a car to restore for yourself, this would be the ideal candidate.
no. 5 The "field car" ! This is the one that is laying around behind the shed, out in the yard, or if it was very lucky, in the garage. Sometimes running, but not really driveable as is. Will have rust evident, but again, not structural. Will require much upholstery work, rechroming, rubbers, maybe windshield, mechanical, engine work, tires, ect. This is the restoration project for the more experienced enthusiast. Definitely worthwhile, but it IS a challenge.
