"7" identifies the "7000" series Canadian Pontiac full size line built in Oshawa, Ontario. There is no plant designation in the serial number on the Canadian Pontiac / Chevrolet cars ( which were built on the same assembly line ! ), so the entire serial number will normally be 1 digit shorter than the U.S. car.
The next digit indicates whether the car was a 6 cylinder ( odd number ) or V8 ( even number )
The following two digits indicate body style.... IE, "67" / Convertible. Below is a list of the sequences and body style.
